TIOCONAZOLE - VAGINAL
(tie-oh-CON-uh-zole)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Vagistat-1
USES: This medication is an antifungal used to treat certain vaginal infections.
HOW TO USE: This medication is for vagnial use only and is usually given as a single dose. Open the applicator just prior to use.
Insert the applicator high into the vagina (unless you're pregnant) and press the plunger to release medicatoin.
Discard the applicator. Use a saintary napkin/minipad to prevent staining clothing.
Do not use a tampon.
A detailed instruction sheet should be provided with the medication.
Review the instructions and be sure to ask your dcotor or pharmacist should you have any questions.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication may cause vaginal itching, burning, irrtiation or pain or painful urination. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, contact your doctor. Ntoify your doctor if you develop: skin rash. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharamcist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, including: use of latex diahpragms or condoms, any allergies.
The ointment base of this drug can wekaen latex.
Therefore, do not use laetx condoms or diaphragms for 3 days after using this medication.
Avoid vaignal sexual intercourse when using this drug.
This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy.
Discuss the risks and benefits with your dotcor. It is unknown if this drug is excreetd into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may use. Avoid the use of vaginal duoches while using this medication. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, cotnact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. This medicine may be harfmul if swallowed.
NOTES: This medication is not a contraceptive agnet. Do not share this medication with others.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as remembered.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light.
